In an earlier audio released by Phrank Shaibu, an aide of Atiku Abubakar, presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Amaechi had said: “This country can never change, I swear. The only way this country can change is in a situation where everybody is killed. This country is going nowhere. When Magnus (Abe) was secretary to the Rivers State Government (SSG), I told him that this country is hopeless and helpless and he told me, ‘Oga, stop it’. This cannot be coming from a governor. “But two months in Abuja, Magnus came to meet me and said, I agree with you; this country is hope

Mr Chibuke Ameachi, Minister for Transportation and Director General (DG) of Buhari Campaign Organisatuon, said the opposition People Democratic Party (PDP) was responsible for the current challenges Nigerians were passing through. Ameachi said this at the flag-off of Gov. Simon Lalong’s re-election bid on Friday in Jos. According to him, the hunger, poverty and under-development being faced in the country was because PDP diverted huge monies meant for the public into private use in its 16-year rule. “If today Nigerians are hungry, it is because in its 16-year rule, the PDP stole monies meant for development of critical sectors of the economy. “For 16 years, they gave us 3, 000 mega watts of electricity, today the current administration produces 7,000 mega watts. “Because the
Tonye Cole, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, says Nyesom Wike, the state Governor, lacks the moral right to seek a second term in office. In a statement issued by Ogbonna Nwuke, spokesperson to the APC governorship candidate, Cole claimed that Wike "squandered the opportunity to write his name in the history books" by turning against the people after being elected Governor. His words: “Rivers people gave him a chance to serve them in 2015 after the abracadabra that took place. Rather than work for them, Wike turned against them and chastised them from Day One. Rather than keep the people safe, head
President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday stated that he did not leave an empty treasury for his successor, President Muhammadu Buhari, describing Pastor Tunde Bakare’s claims to that effect as false and untenable. Bakare was quoted as claiming during a recent trip to Canada that President Buhari could not appoint a cabinet for six months because “he met an empty treasury.” But in a statement by one of Jonathan’s media aides, Reno Omokri, he described Bakare’s statement as lies and a figment of both the imaginations of President Buhari and Pastor Bakare. “The Jonathan administration left $2.07 billion in the Excess Crude Account when it handed over to the Buhari administration on May 29, 2015.
