The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has expelled Hope Uzodinma as its governorship candidate. The decision was announced on Thursday by Daniel Nwafor, the state chairman of the party, at a press conference held at the party’s secretariat in Owerri, the Imo State capital. He accused Uzodinma of running a parallel executive, as well as working with a senatorial candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), instead of Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, who is also contesting for a senatorial seat on the APC platform. The court also asked the PDP to remove Ayorinde’s name from the list of its candidates contesting in the general election. Rochas Okorocha, Governor of Imo State, has dismissed reports of his suspension by a faction of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC). A statement by Sam Onwuemeodo, his Chief Press Secretary noted that the challenge of APC in Imo State is the imposition of candidates into key positions by Adams Oshiohmole, the National Chairman of the party. President Muhammadu Buhari has maintained that assets recovered in the anti-corruption fight will be sold off to prevent re-looting. He said this during his campaign rally in Kaduna on Friday. Buhari affirmed that fighting corruption in Nigeria is a difficult task and he won’t stop until all funds are recovered from looters.
